We will get back to the “Tattoos” series next week. God showed me something last night that I just wanted to tell you about.
I was talking with a friend last night and as we were talking we started talking about different seasons of life and how there are good seasons of life and that there are bad seasons of life. But that all seasons change. They change in 2 different ways.
As we were talking, I was reminded of the first verse of Ecclesiastes 3 and that verse says:
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:” Ecclesiastes 3:1 NIV
This is the first and probably obvious statement about seasons of life and that is that seasons change. This verse tells us that there are seasons of life. One season of life will produce a certain kind of activity and then another season will produce a different type of activity. This verse tells us that seasons change. In fact, the first 8 verses of Ecclesiastes 3 really confirm that there are different seasons of life and that they do change. But I said that seasons change in 2 different ways.
The other way that seasons change is us. Seasons change us. We don’t go through some of the seasons of life without being changed. The different seasons of life that we face change us and we might then look differently at things because of the season we went through. This change that I am speaking about can’t help but happen.
In 2017, I experienced a season of life that I never thought I would. I experienced a season of divorce. I found myself in this place that I didn’t think I would be and that was a rough season. Everything that I thought to be true and what I thought I was sure of was instantly changed by one declaration “I think we need to get a divorce.” Then things began to change. She left and found a place of her own. The kids then had to go between two different places once we got the schedule worked out. It was a tough season and it lasted for about 8 months and then that is when the season began to change me.
I spent a lot of time with God over that 8 months. I learned a lot about Him that I didn’t know before and He taught me a lot about myself. The season changed me. It made me better. God gave me people who love me and helped guide me through because they had been through the same kind of season and their season changed them. I wasn’t alone at all in my season.
Sometimes when we are going through a season of life we can feel alone and that no one knows what we are facing. I thought that myself. But then I remembered a story that was told by friend some 7 years prior about his divorce. God had set me up 7 years ago with someone that would help me during my season. God had my back even before I knew I needed Him to have it.
We are not alone in our seasons. God has us in His mighty hand. He won’t leave. He won’t move. He will get us through. He never stops.
“Even when I don't see it, You're working
Even when I don't feel it, You're working
You never stop, You never stop working”[1]
